Back with Purple Sprouting Broccoli

The blog is getting a bit more of a weekly, rather than a daily activity.  But just for the regulars, to whom I have repeatedly moaned about a lack of purple sprouting broccoli.  I can at last reveal, we have eaten so much we’re nearly bored of it!  Not quite bored as its so damn tasty but your get the drift.

So thanks to the lovely folks near Ginestar who prompted me not to dig up my broccoli.  It’s totally out of season (we usually have it for Christmas!), but it is lovely!

My top broccoli tip?  Never let the puppies play on the broccoli seedlings!

Adios!

Looks fantastic. I’m growing purple sprouting broccoli this year. I can’t wait. Should be another month or so until mine’s eating size.

  2. Oooh I could do with some of that right now! Never tried to grow it before but it’s one of my favourite veg and I’ve never seen it on sale here in Spain! It’s on my list for this year for sure!

Oh that is lovely! I have never seen purple broccoli. Purple cauliflower, yes (turns the water purple when you cook it!). Enjoy!

I might grow some of this next year.

  5. Nice call on the puppies. Thankfully I have a locked gate to get to my garden. Now that the weather has started to warm, I look forward to some awesome tomatoes. I just planted what I expect to be awesome cherry tomatoes.

  6. Love the purple broccoli. I’m assuming it turns green when cooked? Too bad I just planted some early-maturing Packman broccoli. Will have to save the exotic purple variety for next year… Thanks for sharing.

  7. It does look great, glad that you saw success with it :)
