Things to do in October
- Cover compost heaps to protect from autumn rains
- Bring in Spanish storing tomatoes (by truss) when first fruit on each truss is fully ripe. Hang in cool dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Preserve gluts of aubergine and tomatoes etc in pickles and chutneys
- Check carrots, onions, garlic, potatoes and tomatoes in storage discarding any spoilt produce
- String surplus red peppers and chillies for drying
Every year varies according to the weather and what we feel like trying / repeating. and so I will keep updating the list if things change. However the above is the general outline of what will be happening on the veg plot in Catalunya for October.
